I just can't stand leaving that ancient journal up any longer, even more that I hate updating. Anyway, Red Right Hand is going on a bit of a hiatus, but that doesn't mean it's done for. It's just too hard to work on a comic when I'm not feeling any passion for it, so I'm going to take a break from it to play with a little post-apocalyptic project for a while. I apologize if I'm disappointing anyone, but this has been my very first serious attempt at making a comic series, so it's no surprise if it turns out a little bumpy. Again, Red Right Hand is not going to the scrap heap or anything, I'm just putting it on the back burner.

On a completely unrelated note, I've developed an unhealthy fascination with the Gorillaz franchise lately. I just got my own copy of Rise of the Ogre, and the artwork in it blows me away. Jamie Hewlett's unapologetic style is freeing and inspiring to me; the way he's not afraid to draw anything really allows his characters to bloom. Their music's killer, too. Demon Days and Plastic Beach are like a couple of big middle fingers to typical genre and the entire manufactured music scene, and it's impossible not to respect that.

Okay, before you all go saying that I've died and ceased to care about Dev, do realize that I've been working almost nonstop lately. I really let the requests pile up and I've also started work (actual panels-and-story work,) on my first real webcomic: Red Right Hand. The first few pages will be up really soon, and you can also expect a small deluge of request and gift art. Every waking moment I have to myself I wind up thinking, "what should I be drawing right now?" I'm really tired, but I've also got more energy than I've had in a long time. My hands won't stop shaking, so I'll make this brief: thank you all for reading and looking, and thanks again for every word you've spoken to me. It means a lot. Gotta go collapse now. Love you all!

He's a promising writer, and clearly not yet experienced enough to know that I'm terribly unreliable as a comicker, so it all works out! But I am anyway! There's not much to report. I've gotten my first 'job' as an artist; making promotional drawings for my local library. I'm not being paid or anything, but the notion that my artwork is going to be put to use somewhere has me raring to go. It's so exiting!

Also, I've gotten a hold of a few new games. MarioCart Wii is fun, but it brings out the worst in me. I always start cussing out the other racers when I lose. Pokemon SoulSilver has eaten my life, and I now take my Pokewalker everywhere with me. My little Quilava Ben is going to be a champ someday.

More than anything, though, the way this artist conducts herself is what impresses me. I figured it was time to update, now that Christmas is over and all. The holidays went pretty nicely around here; I now have a Wii. Seriously. Me. With a friggin' Wii. It boggles the mind. This wonderful, magical machine has had me glued to the screen at every passing opportunity, with the latest version of the Harvest Moon franchise, Animal Parade. Don't start on this game unless you want to start living in it for the next few weeks. It's even gotten into my dreams. You have been warned.

Also, a package of books from Barnes and Noble arrived at my place today. Aside from not being able to open the door (I was on the other side of the house in my pajamas ) it's been wonderful. Finally I can start reading the Dororo series, as well as continuing to follow Buddha, Black Jack and Mushishi. ...I'm a remarkable hikkomori, aren't I?

Hay thar. Just a quick update to prove that I'm not dead (I haven't been doing anything important; I just don't like writing in a journal.) Because Halloween is coming up, I figured I'd go ahead and do a little something to give some folks nightmares. Halloween is great; it's the one time of year you can wear costumes and scare the crap out of people and not be thought of as a psycho. So, for your amusement, I present the top five Voca-horror videos on the web today. (For those who aren't in on the trend, VOCALOID is a Japanese voice synthesis software that is often used to create arias and dramas to then be shared throughout the internet.) Do be warned: some of these are rather... unsettling.

I know, I know, I don't update. Things are just so ungodly slow, I have this feeling that if I had more things that I had to do, I'd be better about how I spend free time. Gives me a lot to think about...

Anywho, am I the only one who's excited about the newest upcoming Pokemon games, HeartGold and SoulSilver? They are going to be EPIC. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy and start raising one of my oldest favorites, Typhlosion. Come on-they're like bears... only on FIRE. It just doesn't get more awesome.

And oh, the latest Harvest Moon, Animal March for the Wii. I don't even own a Wii and I know that I need it. For some odd reason, I find the little silkworms adorable, in a squishy, insecty way. Natsume is claiming that it will be out in the U.S. some time in the fall. I don't want to be overly optimistic, but I do think that they'd be wise to get a U.S. version ready before Christmas. God knows that I'd ask for it.

...Considering that it's February and I haven't touched a key since December. As I'm sure I blurted out earlier, I have recently upgraded to a laptop.

Oh sweet Mary mother of Jeeezus this thing kicks a$$!

Once I get the new wireless box set up (shortly,) this gallery will gain new material more frequently. That, and I still have to install art programs, register Norton, get the latest Spore upgrade... and various other things I've procrastinated doing thus far.

Well, it was a nice trip. Went fishing, caught a bunch of branches... You know, the vacation norm.

I could tell you the whole sickeningly happy and uninteresting story of my Montana expedition... But I'm not. There are more important things to talk about.

*WARNING: PSEUDO-POLITICAL TALK AHEAD*

Recently an epidemic has come to my attention, a sociopathic bloodsport of remarkable brutality and contempt for human life... They call it "Bum Bashing." More and more teens and young adults are doing it. I'm not usually the kind to hop on the computer and whine to the world about politics. Let's face it, folks, nobody cares. But this is not a matter of aristocracy. It's a matter of simple decency and respect for other people.

Apparently, some freaks out there think that it's "cool" and "fun" to take some blunt object and beat the life out of cornered homeless. Where the hell do they get that? What kind of sick pleasure can you derive from injuring or killing another individual? I don't care what they say; hurting some one out of "sport" is no entertainment, and there is no excuse for such behavior. It's sadistic, cruel and twisted, and all you "bum-bashing" bastards out there know it.

-Alright, I'm through. That's just an important message I had to get across, sorry if it's a tad nasty and droll to read.

On a lighter note, my featured Deviant this time is `hibbary. A lot of Dev fans make "furry" artwork. A lot of people think they know what anthropomorphism is. But `hibbary is a true expert, not only with the integrity to pull herself out of the fan-made muck, but also the skill and knowlage to create anatomically sound, striking, beautiful characters. Hello everyone. I just thought you'd want to know that I'm... Oh, you know... GOING ON A TEN DAY ROAD TRIP!! I'm pumped! We're going all the way across New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and into Montana.

Unfortunately, since I lack a laptop, this means that I won't be updating for a good 10-12 days or so. Don't worry, though, I'll update like crazy when I get back!

That's about it... We're leaving super early tomarrow morning (woo... that's gonna be fun ) so if you want to drabble with me, best do it now.

Okay, lemme explain that title. Everyone, I would highly recommend interjecting the word "baaaaaaaaaaah" whenever somebody else is talking. Just interrupt them out of the blue with a loud goat-cry. It can be surprisingly amusing, especially if you time it right. Try doing right after somebody said something really stupid or gramatically incorrect. Cool people baah. Trust me.

Anywho, the book is coming along PAINFULLY SLOW. I only have the roughs for six pages so far, and the final copy for only one. Ah well. Slow and steady wins the race. Very, very slow..

Well, with a better grasp of Copics and a buttload of marker paper, I should be busy, anyway. At least, I SHOULD be busy, especially with ~KelleyArline's awesome contest and such. Gyaah... I should be working on a request right now. Or the book. Or a short story for Teenink (don't laugh, it means getting published.) Or ~KelleyArline's contest. OR SOMETHING!!!

I like dynamic titles. Anyway, I actually have a big anouncement. In the spirit of ~Inkmo and other great cynics, I have begun work on my own how-to-draw-manga book! The full title, as of now, is "How to Forget Everything You Know About Drawing Manga, Then Learn it Again the Right Way." Mouthy, yes. But you have to admit, there is something of a ring to it. My goal is to tear down the usual manga cliches and teachings and substitute some real information.

No more step-by-step volumes of, "this is how you draw a 'warrior,' and the 'sorceress' type character should be six feet tall and have boobs roughly the size of her head." NO. Why can't you have a short, flat-cest sorceress? Does bra size somehow inpact magical ability? And why must all warrior-type characters be steely and gruff? We've seen a million "rugged loners," people. I must have missed the memo on this, but where did templates start to own manga? That's completely irrational, and I plan to make an impact on the wrongness of this idea.

I'm not trying to be physco or perfectionistic, nor do I claim to be an expert on the topic. You don't have to buy the bloody book if you don't want to. That's not your obligation. But if you're just as sick of the crusted-on stereotypes as all intelligent fans are, then this is the how-to-draw guide for you!

*ahem* Anywho, there's not much else going on right now. I've already sketched out three pages of the book, plus a general outline to go by and several thumbnails for the cover. Er... I'm thinking of studying Akido and meditation through some daily classes, to help relieve some of my anxiety issues. My pets are obnoxious, I'm fairly sure I've lost my mind, and Futurama is awesome. That's about it. Love 'ya all!

I got that phrase from `Endling 's fememe. Possibly the most hilarious and disturbing thing I've ever seen. Curious? Take a look into pandora's box. Just be careful of what might crawl out... (With `Endling , you can never be sure.)

Sorry I've been kinda lethargic... Artwise, I'm uber-swamped. There's two major contests going on right now. The last one I tried went down in flames, so I have to compensate by working as hard as I can on these next ones. The #Riolu-Lucario-Club is having a mother's day contest (haven't even finished the sketch on that one ) and #pokedorks is doing their big 20th contest, so my entry for it has to be perfect. Those pictures will be up as soon as my wrist heals. Also drawing up the plans for a personal project. Wierd... All three digital pictures I've been killing myself over are Pokemon-themed. I gotta get out more.

On a slighly less bland note, the next FMA book doesn't come out 'till October. BLOODY OCTOBER. Can you believe that? Now, if an internet scanlator can have a Naruto chapter on the internet and ready to read mere hours after it was realesed in Japan, how is it that the VIZ professional translators take MONTHS to do the exact same thing? That's a total marketing scam! -Oh well. Guess I'll continue filling my role as fodder to the tyrannical manga gods. Damn if I'm not completely hooked on that series.

Who else feels like they would kill a man to know Scar's real name? I bet five bucks he's secretly some one important; otherwise Arakawa would never wait this long to tell us who the hell he is!
